I created this cute way that students will remember to carry, read, and write their words. How about putting these words in a purse or carrying case that students can take wherever they go? It can be used at school during centers, recess, morning work, sub days, or whenever you wish. Just grab and go! Of course, you can also send it home. The students can practice their words in the car, at grandma's house, baseball practice while waiting for siblings to finish a game, etc.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/My-Spanish-Words-On-The-Go-Purse-and-Car-Carrying-Case" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7stzk6bBJ7y5Gx0R49q-xzs4TTkwRl9kOq0AI87uiLMvsFDTXNzztXj_8aygWbCE05waNdZ3MZQB_9euI6_oTiduFYScHoJ8XH_FQT8WialGahBoAhL_Y7ie54ZzHw-gtOMqz9a5FxcA/s400/Spanish+Words+in+a+Purse+pic.jpg" width="353" /></a></div>
<br />
I made a purse template for a girl and a Car (carrying case) template for a boy. I included 128 of the most common words that have been requested by teachers this past year. These are the same words found in my Read it. Write it. Build it. Packet. The teacher will choose the words that she wants to target each week. Then, the students will color, cut and assemble the purse or car carrying case. There is minimal assembly required. You will have the cover page, the word pages that the teacher selects, a back cover and the handle (oh, and the tires for the car). You can back the handle with card stock to make it a bit more durable. There are enough words in this packet for the entire year. If you want to, the teacher can number the list of words given each week. If this is done, make sure to number the front cover of the purse or car by week for organizational purposes. This will make it easy for students to find the past and current lists. As you can see, I included the list of words. Add it to the purse/car booklet each week so that students may practice reading the words at home.<br />

This is the day when parents and teachers across the nation join forces to promote literacy. Many schools will be having guest readers who will be reading wonderful stories to children in their classrooms. Some of these stories will include Dr. Seuss books. Since his birthday fell on a Friday this year, many classrooms will begin the celebration next week.<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Here are some ideas:</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
*Do an author study.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
*Do a reader's theatre of a favorite story.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
*Your grade level or entire school can have a story book parade.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
*Your class can vote on a favorite story. Then, the students can decorate the classroom door with the theme or cover of the selected book.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
*If you have not given students a reading log, you can start that now. This will help them develop a love for reading.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
*Read a Dr. Seuss book to introduce rhym<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">ing or <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; line-height: 16px;"><em style="color: black; font-style: normal;">onomatopoeia.</em></span></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">

I created a Martin Luther King Jr. resource packet. It includes timeline posters of Dr. King's life events. You can use them as a resource while lesson planning or during an MLK lesson. An idea would be to show each poster as a visual as you read one of his biographies. Just line them up on the chalkboard during your read aloud. These will help students recall some of the information from those lengthy biographies. Later, each student may choose a poster. The teacher will line-up the students in chronological order according to the posters. Finally, the class will retell MLK's timeline events by giving one or two sentences about the poster. Keep in mind that the Kindergarten teacher will need to help students choose a sentence about the poster. I also included some graphic organizers, printables, and 2 coloring sheets.<br />

This time of year is great for reviewing some "m" syllables using murcielagos. I made a few printables to practice making words with "ma". The students will read the syllables, put them together and name the new word that was made. Next, they can write the complete word under the bat. I also made word cards that can be used to match the syllables with the new word. It's a simple activity, but good for review.</div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue; font-size: large;">Stellaluna book:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is the time of year when many teachers include a unit study about bats. One book that children love is the story about Stellaluna. In this book, Stellaluna is a baby bat that becomes lost from her mother. While she was separated from her mother, Stellaluna lived in a nest with a bird family. The momma bird tried to raise baby bat like a bird. Even though they were all very similar, they found that they were different as well and the bat never seemed to fit in. When Stellaluna was finally reunited with her mother again, the baby bat tried to teach the little birds how to act like a bat. </div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue; font-size: large;">KWL Charts:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: blue; font-size: large;"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It is always a good idea to use a KWL chart when studying about a new thematic topic. This helps a teacher activate the student's background knowledge about the subject. It also serves as a tool to encourage students to want to learn more.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When students have gained sufficient knowledge and understanding about a topic, you can do a shared writing activity. Here is a sample of what students usually respond in a Pre-K or Kindergarten classroom. Sorry, I forgot to include a sentence about echolocation. Students LOVE this word and are fascinated about how bats use echolocation. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Once your class has the sentences written down on a big writing chart, you can use it as a shared reading activity. </div>

This simple Grandparents Day Gift will bring a smile to the faces of grandparents :) This activity will get children thinking about all the fun things they do with grandparents. The best part is that they will be able to illustrate the activity on the back of this heart. Do not forget to date this heart. I am sure that it will be cherished for many years. I made three hearts. You will find one for abuelita and one for abuelito. There is also a third one with a blank line. It can be filled in by the child with the name of someone special in their lives that might take the place of a grandparent. Instruct students to give this gift to the grandparent next time they are together.</div>

You can use these during your math time when showing students the different ways to make a number. These posters represent each number with finger counting, ten frame, dice, and tally marks. I was able to make these for the numbers 1 to 10, but I also have Number Posters 1-20 with finger counting and tally marks.<br />

At first, I thought that the students would have a hard time adjusting to this schedule. I was pleasantly surprised when they were able to follow all rules and routines without a problem. Everything seemed a lot more organized and focused on reading skills. It took time to build stamina, but we got there. The key is to start as early in the year as possible. It becomes a daily routine like everything else. Read to Self time will look different throughout the year as their skills develop. Just remember to do a lot of modeling in the beginning!<br />
<br />
I am linking up with <a href="http://www.mrsminersmonkeybusiness.com/2012/07/i-am-so-honored-to-be-hosting-chapter-4.html" target="_blank">Mrs. Miner's Kindergarten blog</a> in the discussion of Read to Self.<br />
<br />
These are some of the things that we did in my classroom during our Read to Self block.<br />
<br />
1. Browsing boxes were very important in my classroom. Each student had his own box full of books at his reading level. These included class made books, emergent readers leveled books and even their library books. The class made books were so helpful in allowing children to read familiar text and feel successful. Each student would take his box to their reading spot.<br />
<br />
2. Students chose a spot where they wanted to sit quietly with a book. My classroom library was converted into a "Club de Lectores" center. I used neighboring bookshelves from our math and whole group area to sort of box-in the reading corner. The entrance was set up as a doorway into the club with the title "Club de Lectores" above the entrance. This was their favorite spot in the room. So, when it was time for Read to Self, half of my students chose to sit "in the clubhouse" for this. I know that they are ideally supposed to sit at a distance away from each other to avoid distractions, but they really, really wanted to read in there. I let them read in the clubhouse as long as they read quietly to themselves. The rest of the students sat on the carpet or at the tables. It worked just fine. I think that the clubhouse was very good motivation for them to <b>read </b>and saw themselves as real readers.<br />
<br />
3. The first couple of weeks I walked around the classroom as they read their books. There was some redirection in the beginning and had to move a few students around but they got the hang of it quickly. After that, I was able to meet with small groups while the students engaged in reading.<br />
<br />
4. During this time, students used their finger to read. I wanted to see if they were reading the words or the pictures. I wanted to see if they were retelling the story to themselves or a puppet. I wanted to see that they were reading from left to right. I wanted to see that they were reading, not quietly, but in a soft voice. I also made sure that they were turning the pages appropriately and handling their books with care.<br />
<br />
5. They read for a given amount of time. I had a timer that would go off to indicate that this was over. This was the routine: students closed their books and put them in their own browsing boxes. They waited for me to call on them by groups to put their boxes back on the shelf. As they returned their boxes to the shelf, they walked back to their sitting spots on the carpet and waited quietly for the rest of the class to join us.<br />
<br />
<h3>
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Daily 5 -Chapter 4 book study Q&A:</span></h3>
<br />
1- How far in the school year do you think Kinders need to be able to begin the process of Read to Self? What is realistic? When do you plan to begin implementation?<br />
<br />
I believe that they need to start as early in the school year as possible. Realistically, they must become familiar with classroom routines and procedures first. You can begin implementation 3-4 weeks into school. You can start with mini-lessons modeling each of the behaviors expected during this time. You model, they practice. Start small and build up.<br />
<br />
2. How will you make sure that each child views himself as a reader (whether they are reading words or not)?<br />
<br />
Those that are not able to read can point to the pictures in the book and talk about them. Something as simple as "I see a brown dog" will do the job. They see the pictures and hear their own words to describe a page in the book. That alone, helps them validate their reading skills. <br />
<br />
3. What are some ideas you have about "Launching Read to Self" in Kindergarten?<br />
<br />
As I mentioned above, I think that by creating a <b>Reader's Clubhouse </b>or some sort of corner that focuses on reading, the students will develop an "I am a reader" mentality and feel proud of themselves. It's a good way to make reading fun and functional.<br />
<br />
4. How will you build the childrens' belief that this IS important?<br />
<br />
When students are able to participate in "sharing" time, they become to understand that they are not only reading for themselves, but can also share their stories with an audience. Sharing time gives them that extra push to develop their reading skills and tell others what they know or learned from a story.<br />
<br />
5. How valuable is Checking In and Reviewing with Kindergarteners?<br />
<br />
This is the a very important step in the implementation of Daily 5. You model, practice, model, practice. Then, when they are establishing the routine, you continue to check in.<br />
<br />
6. What are some problems that can occur during this time?<br />
<br />
Some of the more active students might distract other readers. My solution is to assign them a reading area. But, I do not want them to feel any less. So this is how I word it --"__________ seems to be distracting YOU. Let's find another area for you so that you can read without distractions.<br />
<br />

But, the more I read them, the more I realized that they are the same skills that we already address in our classrooms. The <b>I can</b>... statements seem to be a prerequisite in most classrooms across the nation. These are usually posters with the specific strand of focus for the day or week. Posting the I can statements makes it easy for students to be aware of learning expectations. It is also a good way to keep administration and parents informed on current academic skills.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
These are the translated checklists that I came up with after reviewing the Common Core Standards. </div>

We are already at the end. I know that many of you are probably packing a few things and trying to get organized for next year. But we still need to finish up about two more weeks. One of our last events is graduation day. On a previous post I wrote about ideas for graduation. I hope that you were able to order and receive your graduation gowns on time.<br />
<br />
I made you some Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten diplomas in case you still need them. They are in Spanish and English. Make sure to download the one that you need.<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Cinco de mayo</b> is a huge celebration held on May 5th. This is the date that the Mexican army won the fight against the French soldiers in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. The French army was much bigger than the Mexican army. Because of this David and Goliath type of fight, people of Mexican heritage feel proud to remember and celebrate this amazing victory. (This is not to be confused with Mexico's Independence Day which is celebrated on September 16th.)</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
This holiday is mostly celebrated by the Mexican-American population in the United States. Traditionally, it is celebrated with festivals which include performances by mariachis, ballet folklorico and matachines dancers. Some cities in Mexico and the United States also have lively parades and carnivals.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">

<b>How can you celebrate at school?</b></div>

<b><br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Add Decorations</b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
Make large colorful tissue paper flowers. This is good practice for fine motor skills. Students will learn how to make a fan by folding paper. Make sure to layer several pieces of tissue paper for a large flower. They can also learn how to make a paper garland and decorate your classroom or hallway with these.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Use layers of color to add interest to your tissue paper flowers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSmkLPnOnvwJB-KghmF8ZdHMFDKuDNMV6WABRCDUiul0HmDUxXZ52e9zrgO-e6ocktDpdMBUJxSQhzG95eMwLgnF-BnwTerolBs4dKXOX818Z9kzQ-9jO02cFqvb6RqpyAH-NR3a7eXlc/s1600/paper+flower4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSmkLPnOnvwJB-KghmF8ZdHMFDKuDNMV6WABRCDUiul0HmDUxXZ52e9zrgO-e6ocktDpdMBUJxSQhzG95eMwLgnF-BnwTerolBs4dKXOX818Z9kzQ-9jO02cFqvb6RqpyAH-NR3a7eXlc/s320/paper+flower4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Student-made Piñatas </b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
Kids can use a styrofoam cup, empty milk carton from school or a small paper sack to make a mini-piñata. Make sure that the milk carton has been rinsed and dried. If you use a paper sack, you will need to stuff it with paper and close the bag with a stapler or tight rubber band. The teacher can give the kids narrow strips of colorful tissue paper. Students can cut fringes on it or the fringes can be pre-made by the teacher. The students will add a thin stripe of glue along the top of the paper and glue it to the<b> bottom</b> of the cup or milk carton. Students will continue to layer the tissue paper all the way to the top.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
You need to alternate colors so that it can look colorful. You may tie it in to math by making patterns with the paper layers (ex. red, yellow, green, red, yellow, green). The teacher should always model a How-To before the children are expected to complete this fun but sticky activity. It can also be done in small groups, teacher -led whole group or one parent volunteer per table to help them along.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This Mexican piñata will give you an idea of colors to use for your mini-piñatas.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Games</b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
The kids love to play pin the tail on the donkey. You can have a cake walk or a cupcake walk. Sometimes these are replace with sodas for a soda walk. Have you ever played la loteria? Some kids are used to this fun Mexican bingo and others have never seen it or played it before. It does have some components that may not be school-friendly, so you might want to make your own. It has pictures and words such as " el borracho" and "la muerte" that many parents might not like to see in a school setting. Hmmm, I wish I would have made you a school-friendly loteria. Maybe in the future.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Picture booth</b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
Set up a picture booth in your classroom. You can either bring in a Mexican sombrero or have your kids make their own. These will be perfect for a picture.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Food</b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
Nachos are a simple snack for the classroom. You can get the tortilla chips and a large can of Nacho Cheese at your local grocery store. Set up a crock pot with the cheese and place it away from the reach of the kids. If parents volunteer to bring food or snacks, you will have plenty of food and a good variety of Mexican dishes.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<b>Song</b></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
<i>De colores</i> is a popular song that is usually included in our Bilingual Education curriculum. </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
Most children know all of the words to <i>Las mañanitas</i> too.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">
They can also start learning the chant "Si se Puede" by Jose Luis Orozco. I mentioned this song in the <a href="http://kinderlatino.blogspot.com/2012/04/graduation-ideas.html">graduation ideas</a> post. </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">

I just realized that the end of the school year is near. I have some graduation ideas to share with you so that you can start preparing for the big day. These are ideas and resources that I have used in the past. I hope that you are able to use them.<br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>Caps and Gowns</b><br />
I like to order our graduation caps and gowns from Capsngowns4less.com. If you order 50 or more units, you usually get a really good discount. I think that it's about 12.95 per unit. In the past, this price has included the cap, gown, tassel and diploma! Not a bad deal at all. Here is the link to their Pdf price list if you are looking for ideas: <a href="http://www.capsngowns4less.com/kindergowns.pdf">http://www.capsngowns4less.com/kindergowns.pdf </a> Make sure not to wait until the last minute. Rush deliveries always include an extra fee.<br />

<b>Songs and Poem for graduation program:</b><br />
I have included some videos that I found on youtube just to give you an idea.<br />
<br />
<b>I am a promise</b><br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="272" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VC_BtDZHT0M" width="310"></iframe><br />
<br />
<b>Soy una promesa</b><br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="272" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OdDdaaOeS8E" width="310"></iframe><br />
<br />
<b>The world is a rainbow:</b> This is a beautiful song, especially when you use the hand motions that go along with it.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="272" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ydkA6KzMdws" width="310"></iframe><br />
<br />
<b>¡Si se puede!</b><br />
You can find this poem in your school library. Look for the book by Jose Luis Orozco. You will find the the short version with the hand motions that you can use for the chant.<br />
<br />
We chant to this poem starting with " En este mundo tan lindo y tan grande, yo soy único."<br />
<br />
Here is a sample that I found online just to give you an idea. It sounds very different from the way that we usually chant it, but you can choose where in the poem to start and end.<br />

<b>Parent letter:</b><br />
<br />
At the end of our graduation ceremony, I read a poem to the parents. This is a poem that I found a long time ago on a teacher site. (If you know the author of this poem, please let me know so that I can credit them:) A regular ed. teacher reads this poem in English and I read it in Spanish for our bilingual families. Parents love, love, love this poem. I also print it and place a copy in their graduation gift bags.<br />
<br />
Estimados padres,<br />
<br />
Sinceramente,<br />

<h3>
<b><u>Celebration time</u></b></h3>
After the ceremony, we have a big celebration in our classrooms. Parents go all out. We have a prent meeting to organize the party. They all pitch in to bring tamales, menudo, posole, envueltos, mole, a lot of postres and much, much more. One of the teachers even had parents bring in a raspa stand and a piñata one year :)<br />
<br />
<b><u>Teacher gift for students</u></b><br />
The bilingual teachers on our team always buy Spanish scholastic books in advance. We give our students about two to three picture books inside a bright party bag. It also includes their diploma with a student picture, the parent letter, report card and a memory book.<br />
<br />

Head, Thorax, Abdomen is a fun song to teach about the body parts of an insect. We sing it to the tune of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. I made sentence strips that you can use in your pocket chart. You will see three different sets. The red and blue copies are for the dual language teacher. The last colorful set can be used by everyone else. Here is a sample of the song in Spanish. Click on the picture to get your copy.</div>

<br />
Shared Reading:<br />
<br />
I like to create shared reading charts to go along with my weekly themes. You can come up with predictable sentences like these. Add some sight words, words that are easy to decode using our Spanish syllables and new vocabulary words. Always add some picture cues. Advanced readers will read the sentences without the need to focus on the photos. Struggling readers will rely on the images to read unknown words. Visuals just allow EVERYONE in the class to feel successful readers. Open this as an activity during center time. The students will be able to read along with a pointer during center time and enjoy the sound of independent reading:)<br />

<br />
Emergent Reader:<br />
<br />
You can always turn your shared reading activity into a mini-book that students can use during independent reading time.<br />
<br />
Craft:<br />
<br />
Look at this cute craft that my son made at school. Isn't it cute? I would use this along with a writing activity. Can you tell that they used handprints for the feathers? The note in the middle says:<br />
"A little chirp, A little peep... A little memory for you to keep!! ---I love it:)<br />

<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: yellow;">Freebie:</span><br />
<br />
Easter is a good time to review words with <b>ca, co and cu</b>. Here is an Easter freebie for you.<br />
The students will complete the word by writing the syllable <b>"co"</b> at the beginning of the word.<br />
Then, they can color the picture for fun.<br />

This is a sample of a Spanish graphic organizer for identifying the main idea of a story. <i> </i>In this activity, the students are expected to sequence and summarize the plot's main events. A good teaching strategy that you can use is the "Somebody-Wanted-But-So-Then" chart. In Spanish, you would write it as "Alguien-Quería-Pero-Así que-Entonces." I believe that illustrations are very important to help students make connections with words. They also allow students to visualize the story and sequence of events. Here is a sample of the graphic organizer that implements text and illustrations.<br />

<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;">Picture prompts</span> help students make personal connections and elicit curiosity. The pictures will allow students to gather their thoughts before a discussion or a writing activity. And we all know how much we need pictures cues during our ESL block. I hope that they are helpful.<br />
