Easter Scrambled Syllables

Easter Scrambled Syllables may be used in your pocket chart center. There are 32 words in this packet. Each word is coded with a number at the top left. That is how students know which cards to assemble into a word.  They will scramble the set of cards and then build a word by looking at the picture cue on the carrot card. Once the word is completed correctly, students will blend the syllables to read the word.

Here is a free Spanish Syllables activity from this packet.

Spanish Words On The Go

Are you looking for a new idea to get students to read and write their high frequency words? I created this cute way that students will remember to carry, read, and write their words. How about putting these words in a purse or carrying case that students can take wherever they go? It can be used at school during centers, recess, morning work, sub days, or whenever you wish. Just grab and go! Of course, you can also send it home. The students can practice their words in the car, at grandma's house, baseball practice while waiting for siblings to finish a game, etc.

I made a purse template for a girl and a Car (carrying case) template for a boy. I included 128 of the most common words that have been requested by teachers this past year. These are the same words found in my Read it. Write it. Build it. Packet. The teacher will choose the words that she wants to target each week. Then, the students will color, cut and assemble the purse or car carrying case. There is minimal assembly required. You will have the cover page, the word pages that the teacher selects, a back cover and the handle (oh, and the tires for the car). You can back the handle with card stock to make it a bit more durable. There are enough words in this packet for the entire year. If you want to, the teacher can number the list of words given each week. If this is done, make sure to number the front cover of the purse or car by week for organizational purposes. This will make it easy for students to find the past and current lists. As you can see, I included the list of words. Add it to the purse/car booklet each week so that students may practice reading the words at home.

The bundle includes both packets, the purse AND the car templates.
This product may be used by Spanish or English speakers.
Just use the cover page that you need to create your fun book.

Rhyming Across America

It's time to celebrate Read Across America, which coincides with the birthday of Dr. Seuss. This is the day when parents and teachers across the nation join forces to promote literacy.  Many schools will be having guest readers who will be reading wonderful stories to children in their classrooms. Some of these stories will include Dr. Seuss books. Since his birthday fell on a Friday this year, many classrooms will begin the celebration next week.

Here are some ideas:

*Do an author study.
*Do a reader's theatre of a favorite story.
*Your grade level or entire school can have a story book parade.
*Your class can vote on a favorite story. Then, the students can decorate the classroom door with the theme or cover of the selected book.
*If you have not given students a reading log, you can start that now. This will help them develop a love for reading.
*Read a Dr. Seuss book to introduce rhyming or onomatopoeia.

I found a few of the Dr. Seuss books in Spanish.

I also found these three videos of  Dr. Seuss stories in Spanish. I am sure that your students will enjoy them.
¿Eres tú mi mamá?
Huevos verdes con jamón
El mejor nido
I created a Read Across America pack last year. I decided to deactivate it right away because the author does not allow us to create resources directly related to his themes. After so many emails, I decided to update this packet. I replaced the Dr. Seuss clip art with kids engaged in reading. This packet has many rhyming activities, Ss syllable printables, and an emergent reader. If you bought it last year, just go back to download the new version FREE :)
Here is a small freebie from this packet :)

Martin Luther King Printables

Hi there! Here is my Martin Luther King Jr. pack. It includes timeline posters of Dr. King's life events. You can use them as a resource while lesson planning or during an MLK lesson. An idea would be to show each poster as a visual as you read one of his biographies. Just line them up on the chalkboard during your read aloud. These will help students recall some of the information from those lengthy biographies. Later, each student may choose a poster. The teacher will line-up the students in chronological order according to the posters. Finally, the class will retell MLK's timeline events by giving one or two sentences about the poster. Keep in mind that the Kindergarten teacher will need to help students choose a sentence about the poster. I also included some graphic organizers, printables, and 2 coloring sheets.

Find the English Martin Luther King posters here.
